NEWPORT-BASED waste management specialist GD Environmental has completed a major project in France. The company oversaw an extrusion welding contract for Asset International's huge High Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE) pipes in Calais.
HDPE pipes are a "greener" alternative to concrete pipes, as well as being easier to repair and replace. They are used to channel sewage and storm drain waste, and to transport drinking water.
Managing director James Norvill said the extrusion welding service is rapidly becoming one of GD Environmental's principal services.
He added, "The demand for extrusion welding is growing across the UK and Europe, particularly sewage pipes, tank installations and landfill lining.
"This highly skilled and physically demanding process requires a great deal of concentration, and we have invested heavily over the last 18 months to develop our dedicated and experienced team."
Launched by Mr Norvill in 2003, at the age of 23, the company aims to achieve a turnover of £9m in two years' time.
