GD Environmental named in top 20 Green Businesses in the UK.
A pioneering company, based in Newport, known for their green waste management service has been selected as one of the top 20 green business leaders in the 2008 Barclays Commercial Bank Green Leaders in Business Awards.
The Awards recognise those companies who are using ground-breaking processes or new sustainable technology products or services to help beat climate change and, crucially, boost their own profits.
Green Leaders in Business is open to all UK and Irish companies and strives to identify businesses that consider the environment in all aspects of their operation. Recognised as one of the fastest growing company’s in Wales, GD Environmental’s green agenda has brought significant business success.
Lead by ambitious young entrepreneur James Norvill GD Environmental’s green vision has helped increase turnover by over £1m in the last 12 months and has helped create 15 new jobs for local people.
A recent invested of over £2m into a state of the art waste transfer and recycling station, has helped lower the carbon footprint of the business and its customers. The site based at the heart of Newport currently recycles over 90% of all transferred waste assuring GD Environmental’s Skip Hire services is amongst the greenest in the UK.
Over the last year the company has expanded into the community with its fresh face of recycling called the carbon neutrals and has bold ambitions to become Carbon Neutral by 2012
