Waste super car speeds into record books
One of the worlds most eye catching promotion vehicles has raced its way into the Guinness World Record books.
The Skipcar, an unorthodox marketing tool created by leading welsh waste management company GD Environmental services, has successfully been awarded the title of “the world’s fastest waste container” following a thorough adjudication process with the Guinness World Record Team.
The modified high performance Subaru Impreza built around an 8 yard builders skip successfully reached a top speed of 93 mph over a 400m dragster track during Santa Pod’s popular Flames and Thunder event in Northampton.
Director of GD Environmental and world record holder James Norvill said “It’s been a long adjudication process but it’s fantastic to be named a Guinness world record holder. How better to promote the fact we provide the worlds fastest skip service than to take a client for a spin in the worlds fastest skip!”
The companies green skip hire service has grown significantly over the past 12 months being named as the 8th fastest growing company in Wales and has seen sales increase by an impressive sales by 30% despite difficult times within the construction industry.
James Norvill said “With the downturn in the housing market and the soaring cost of fuel it has been difficult for businesses to grow within the waste industry. We have been fortunate to have a marketing tool like the Skipcar to gain a competitive edge over our competitors which has been instrumental in generating sales over the past 12 months.”
The success of the Skipcar is one of the fundamental reasons why GD Environmental has been named a finalist for the Marketing Strategy of the Year Award at the prestigious National Business Awards 2008.
