I believe 2009 will be the year that waste disposal is revolutionise through Biomass and Waste to Energy Plants. With growing pressures on local authorities to reduce the high levels of waste that is disposed via landfill sites to meet the ambitious targets set by the European Landfill Directive, there needs to be a significant change in how waste is processed. With several successful biomass plants operating within the UK I believe this technology will prove to be big business in 2009 if the government does not delay planning and constraint new ventures with unnecessary red tape.
