Title: Scooby Skip motors into record books
WITH a £20,000 price tag and top speed of nearly 150 mph, this is a skip with a difference.
Created by BCC Welsh Business of the Year GD Environmental, the Skipcar is proving to be a real top trump amongst car enthusiasts.
Originally a Subaru Impreza 2 Litre Turbo Rally Car, a team of dedicated mechanics managed to strip the car to its chassis and build it into an 8 yard builders skip in under a month.
This hard work has been rewarded with the Skipcar roaring its way into the into the record books following an impressive land speed record of 94 mph over a 400m drag circuit.
The record attempt which was witnessed by over 15,000 spectators at Santa Pods end of season Flames and Thunder Event was the first of its kind for a Skip.
Record holder and entrepreneur James Norvill Says “To set a land speed record for the worlds fastest skip has been an enjoyable adventure. We can now prove that we provide the worlds fastest skip service”
Mr Norvill continued “Following the success of the first Skipcar we have began work on a new mini skip. Maybe we will fit some nitrous oxide to the back of this new Skipcar and try to beat our speed record”
