Are you moving house? Maybe doing some home renovations? Or simply just having a clear out? All of which can be stressful enough without the hassle of finding a home for all of your unwanted junk, or finding a local low cost service to remove old bricks, rubble, pipework and cabling.
So, here at GD Environmental, we have put together this handy checklist of things you need to consider when hiring a skip.
Where Can I Put My Skip?
Your skip can be situated anywhere on your private property, providing the skip driver can access the location, and it is clear of obstructions. Driveways and front gardens are the most popular positions.
Do I Need a Skip Permit?
If you want to site your skip on public land (i.e. the road or pathway) you will require approval and a permit from your Local Authority… but do not fear, GD Environmental can arrange this on your behalf. However, charges and duration of hire vary depending on the region you are based in. Our helpful team will inform you of the details at the time of booking.
How Long Can I Have the Skip For?
Here at GD Environmental, we are very flexible with the length of hire, with durations ranging from a couple of hours to a couple of weeks. Just give us a call when it’s full, and we’ll get it collected within 24 hours, depending on availability.
Should you have a permit in place from your Local Authority, GD Environmental will arrange with you to collect the skip before the permit expires.
Is There Anything I Can’t Put in the Skip?
A GD Environmental skip can provide the perfect cost-effect and hassle-free service for the removal of your non-hazardous waste, such as building debris, household items and green waste.
It is illegal for you to mix hazardous waste with non-hazardous waste and, therefore, there are a number of items which you cannot use a skip to dispose of. This includes; asbestos, plasterboard, car batteries, tyres, fridges and freezers. We can, however, provide special permits and containers to dispose of these.
Where Do I get a Skip From?
If you’re based in South Wales, then we’re just the skip hire company you need. With bases in Newport and Llanelli, we cover the surrounding areas and everything in between, including; Swansea, Port Talbot, Vale of Glamorgan, Cardiff, Abergavenny and Chepstow.
Keep Your Eyes Peeled for Green Companies?
Many skip hire and waste management companies boast about their environmental performance. Here at GD Environmental we proudly recycle of 96% of the waste we collect. This means by avoiding extortionate expensive landfill taxes we can pass on the positive savings to our customers, resulting in cheaper skip hire for you!
