GD Environmental, regarded as one of Wales’ most environmentally considerate waste management companies, celebrates another year of growth with the re-launch of our revitalised Llanelli site on the 25th February.
Wales’ leading waste management firm acquired the assets and business of Llanelli skip company, Skip Solutions, in 2014. The acquisition was a key component in our strategic expansion plan, operating a full range of both liquid and dry waste services, whilst strengthening our total waste management service within the Carmarthenshire region.
Economy Minister Edwina Hart will be officially re-opening the 5 acre site, joining prospective and valued customers, staff and the CEO, to welcome in another year of prospective growth.
The Minister said: “GD Environmental operates in one of our key economic sectors and its waste management services support our targets to reduce waste going to landfill. I am delighted to hear of its commitment to sustainability and its on-going plans to expand their services, support the local economy and offer career opportunities.”
A statement from Ian Lynass, CEO, reports that in the short year it’s been operational, “our Llanelli Transfer Station is well on its way to become the most efficient facility in the region capable of handling in excess of 100 tonnes of waste materials per day and diverting up to 96% away from Landfill.”
Twinned with the depot in Newport, the Llanelli site shares the same commitment to sustainability, as well as our company’s equal commitments to developing economic growth in South Wales. In the face of Welsh industrial closures, GD Environmental’s investments in the local area, and our concerted efforts to develop the services we provide to the communities of the region, marks a hopeful improvement in Welsh economy and enterprise.
“We intend to continue to grow our services and reach to the people in the region and we will provide long term compelling careers for local people that they can rely upon. Our strategy is to expand the Circular Economy through innovation, technology and people by doing so we will help ensure the journey toward sustainable resources continues for future generations to come.”
