The Welsh Responsible Business Awards 2014 has seen businesses from across Wales assemble to celebrate the positive contribution organisations make to tackling Wales’ social, economic and environmental challenges whilst achieving their commercial aims.
The Wales Responsible Business Awards are part of the UK’s longest-running and most respected awards scheme.
The ‘Responsible Small Business of the Year’ category attracted an abundance of exciting high-calibre entrants from across Wales, with Porth Teigr, Rhondda Housing Association, Brother Industries UK and GD Environmental all achieving BITC’s Big Tick Award.
GD Environmental successfully aligned their responsible business practices to their plans for strategic growth and expansion, increasing turnover, expanding profit margins and creating new jobs, which resulted them being named as the overall category winner for Wales.
James Norvill, CEO of GD Environmental said “To be named as Wales’ Responsible Small Business of The Year is a great privilege. We recognise the importance of investing in our people; it is a key part of the company’s growth whilst supporting the communities in which we operate”.
The Big Tick is a leading endorsement of responsible business and companies are awarded for initiatives tackling a range of issues from building long-term partnerships with schools and the community, to inspiring young talent and supporting the growth of SMEs and social enterprise.
